Don’t Judge a Movie by its Trailer
I had gotten a pair of tickets for the screening of The Disappearance of Alice Creed (written and directed by J Blakeson). I hadn’t heard much about the film and really had no clue what it was about. I did happen to catch a trailer of the film, and from what I saw I thought I had the whole plot figured out and it’d be a waste to go see it, but decided what-the-heck it’s a free movie so why not attend. However, this movie contained a major plot twist that I did not expect (which is a rare experience nowadays) and the rest of the movie plays out the same with twists upon twists. Overall, this was a good movie and I’m glad I had went with the decision to go see it.
Oh and one more thing, the entire movie consists of only three cast members. I can’t even convey how difficult it is to write a script with such a limited cast and have a plot that’s good enough to keep an audience engaged. This reminds me of the film Red Eye in which a majority of the film consisted of the interaction between two people seated next to each other on a plane.
P.S. Martin Compston had a very Ed Norton-esque look about him which I found to be an extra bonus because I love Edward Norton; he’s my favorite actor.
